Labor told to fund three days childcare for all families
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s universal childcare promise could push an extra 20,700 people, mostly women, into the workforce. according to a Productivity Commission draft report, but at a cost to taxpayers of $120,000 per job.
But while the workforce participation benefits might be costly, the commission found the moves would include improved developmental and educational outcomes for some of the country’s most vulnerable children.
