Labor shouldn’t crash through on super taxes like the Voice

The government’s failure to heed advice from many parts of the community that the super tax policy is flawed ominously echoes the defeat of the referendum.

Just under two weeks ago, Jim Chalmers decided to play the man while defending Labor’s controversial superannuation tax proposals.

The Australian Financial Review had reported that a number of venture capitalists were worried that higher taxes on larger super accounts would deter investment in technology start-ups. The treasurer’s response was to shoot the messenger.
