High-profile Victorian Liberal MP Gladys Liu has rejected fresh calls to make a statement to Parliament over links to organisations with ties to the Chinese Communist Party following allegations she helped a Chinese renewable energy company gain access to Australian politicians.
The Labor Party has renewed its pursuit of Ms Liu after The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age newspaper reported the company, Brighsun New Energy, had made a $105,000 donation to the Liberal Party and was later implicated in a $1 million money laundering investigation.
