Labor picks senior union official for key marginal seat

Labor has picked a union official with a PhD in gender and cultural studies to challenge Liberal MP Gladys Liu for the marginal Melbourne seat of Chisholm.
Opposition leader Anthony Albanese announced Victorian Trades Hall Council assistant secretary Carina Garland would be the party’s candidate for a seat he must win to form government.
