Labor MP opposed to euthanasia wants to repeal ban in NT and ACT
Politicians across federal parliament have been urged to end a decades-old ban on assisted dying laws in the Northern Territory and ACT, described by Labor MPs behind a repeal plan as treating some Australians as second-class citizens.
Government MPs will be granted a conscience vote on ending the Andrews Bill, the 1997 legislation that barred the territories from legalising euthanasia, originally championed by former minister and Liberal MP Kevin Andrews.
