Labor dismisses ‘shrill’ criticism of gas price cap

Anthony Albanese has rebuffed energy bosses complaining about Labor’s gas price cap, pointing out that governments overseas had opted for policies more unfriendly to business.
Mr Albanese pointed to the UK Conservative government’s windfall profits tax on energy companies and said unlike overseas, companies here faced no increase to production costs despite benefiting from the global spike in prices.
