Tamworth Mayor and self-described Barnaby Joyce backer Col Murray will be appointed as the next chairman of Infrastructure Australia, as part of a significant overhaul of the board.
While Labor questioned Mr Murray’s bona fides and said his ascension threatened IA’s impartiality, Mr Joyce, the Minister for Infrastructure, defended the appointment, which is one of seven impending changes to the board. He accused the ALP of being biased against the regions.
