Japan poised to be part of AUKUS security pact
Canberra, Tokyo | Japan could soon join the AUKUS military technology sharing pact alongside Australia, the United States and United Kingdom, in a major boost to regional alliances that will provoke a furious response from China.
Defence Minister Richard Marles said Japan was an “indispensable defence partner” for Australia as the three founding members are expected to announce the start of talks on expanding the pact.
