Independent Zali Steggall saves class action reforms

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg’s push to cap legal fees and payouts to litigation funders for class actions narrowly passed the House of Representatives on Wednesday after a slew of crossbench MPs backed scuttling the bill.
They were supported by retiring Queensland Coalition MP George Christensen, who crossed the floor to vote against the government.
