‘I wanted to end my life’, James Shipton slams ASIC failures

Former corporate watchdog chairman James Shipton says a six-month “abusive advertising campaign” paid for by mining billionaire Clive Palmer made him suicidal, and the behaviour of a colleague made matters worse.
Appearing before a Senate inquiry on Wednesday probing the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, Mr Shipton criticised ASIC’s response and called for independent oversight of agency commissioners.
