Israel and prominent Jewish groups have rounded on the Albanese government after Australia joined 152 other countries to vote for a United Nations resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza without mentioning the October 7 terror attacks inside Israel.
The vote, which was opposed by key ally the United States, came just hours after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Canadian and New Zealand counterparts released a statement criticising the actions of both Israel and Hamas amid the escalating bloodshed and destruction in Gaza.
