Government models extra help for single parents

The Albanese government has modelled proposals to help single parents struggling with the cost of living, raising expectations there will be some form of increased assistance in the May 9 budget.
But sources said it was unlikely there would be a full reinstatement of the payment that was withdrawn a decade ago by the Gillard government, leaving recipients about $200 worse off a fortnight.
