Key developments on Saturday

- NSW reported 35 new cases but only nine people were infectious while in the community. This was a lower proportion than in past days, which the Premier said showed the “green shoots are there”.

- NSW Premier Berejiklian and Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant both warned Sydneysiders to avoid crowded indoor areas and enjoy the sun outdoors in a socially-distanced way.
- Brisbane’s four-day lockdown will end at 6pm tonight because authorities are satisfied contact tracers will get on top of the new cases. But mask wearing will remain mandatory for the next two weeks.
- WA Premier Mark McGowan was confident that the remaining restrictions in WA will be eased from Tuesday morning after the state recorded zero new cases today.
- Victoria has defended extending state of emergency for another month until July 29 despite reporting another day of zero local cases.
