Gay marriage, the battle lines are drawn up
The Christians see themselves as the underdogs. The gay community is worried about losing. A few of the campaign leaders could be turned into household names.
The vote to change the legal definition of marriage looks likely to be the biggest exercise in community political activism since the Republic referendum was defeated in 1999. This time, though, the campaign will be fought as much on Facebook and Twitter as in the newspapers and evening news.
