International students have been slugged with a 125 per cent increase in non-refundable visa application fees, as the government ramps up its efforts to curtail temporary migration numbers.
Without warning, visa application fees surged from $710 to $1600 at midnight on Sunday, the government confirmed in a media release on Monday morning. The move is expected to raise about $100 million in additional revenue.
