For the party of lower taxes, this is an odd hill to die on

It’s a lot harder to run a campaign promising to repeal an already legislated tax cut than oppose the other side’s idea.

It’s been a while, 20 years in fact, since an opposition chose to oppose tax cuts in a budget.

Peter Costello released his 2005 budget with the theme “welfare to work”. It contained $3.6 billion in measures designed to “encourage” welfare recipients back into the workforce and $24 billion in tax cuts for those in the workforce.
