West Australian farmers will begin doorknocking in marginal Labor-held electorates this week, vowing to make the Albanese government’s live sheep export ban an election issue after amassing hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations.

Laws banning the live sheep trade within four years passed the Senate late on Monday night, drawing condemnation from the opposition and warnings from WA farmers that the move will jeopardise sheep farming on the west coast.
