Every taxpayer will get a new tax cut in 2026 after Jim Chalmers used the federal budget to kick-start Labor’s election campaign by promising to put more money in voters’ pockets.
The treasurer called the $17.1 billion in new cuts a “modest” measure that would “top up” changes to the stage three tax cuts announced early last year.
