Election may have to wait for judges’ decision on NSW candidates
The formal start of the federal election campaign may have to wait for three NSW judges to decide if Prime Minister Scott Morrison is allowed to choose Liberal Party candidates.
On Friday, the NSW Court of Appeal considered a request from Liberal Party member Matthew Camenzuli to overrule the selection of three Liberal MPs, Environment Minister Sussan Ley, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke and backbencher Trent Zimmerman, without a vote of party members.
