During separate radio interviews in Melbourne last Friday, Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese were asked what they believed would decide the next election.

“It will be fought about two things,” said Albanese, before embarking on a 435-word dissertation which began with a laundry list of the government’s failures, and ended with an outline of Labor’s “clear alternative”, focused on building back better from the pandemic.
