On the campaign trail at an RSL on Melbourne’s south-eastern outskirts, Peter Dutton sought to stake out some familiar rhetorical territory.
“I was a police officer for about nine years, and I must say … it is something you carry with you always, as a police officer, seeing somebody in a violent situation, the victim of a crime,” the opposition leader said.
