Dutton and Albanese ignore ASIO warning to tone down Gaza brawl
Peter Dutton sees political advantage in keeping up the pressure on Anthony Albanese over visas for Gaza refugees and accusing him of making the country less safe.
So much for the head of ASIO pleading for Australia to lower the temperature. The country’s leaders are instead engaged in a new round of vicious, mutual attacks against one another.
The immediate dispute is over the adequacy of security checks on refugees from the war in Gaza. The underlying struggle is the attempt by Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton to persuade voters their opponent is unfit for office.
