CSIRO might revise nuclear power cost claims

The CSIRO says it is prepared to reconsider its estimate that nuclear power would cost up to twice as much as that generated by firmed renewables following complaints by the federal opposition and other proponents that its initial number was based on flawed assumptions.

The nation’s leading scientific organisation will be one of several peak bodies to appear on Thursday at the first hearing of a Labor-dominated committee into the Coalition’s nuclear policy, which the latter believes was established at the last minute to damage the policy in the lead-up to the election.
