Key crossbenchers are preparing to weaponise Labor’s plan to stamp out political pork barrelling against the Albanese government, with a bid for tougher rules to publicise and review grants.

When MPs return to Canberra on Monday, Indi MP Helen Haines will introduce legislation designed to stop a repeat of the Coalition’s sports rorts saga and commuter carpark scheme, through transparency rules and tougher parliamentary oversight.
