Construction industry ‘much more respectful’ in WA
The Western Australian Labor government is unlikely to follow the eastern states and impose compulsory requirements for union agreements on major infrastructure projects, saying it wants to deliver “best possible value” for taxpayers.
The WA building sector demanded the Cook government rule out implementing compulsory union agreements on big builds after a major investigation by The Australian Financial Review, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and 60 Minutes showed how underworld figures have infiltrated major NSW and Victorian construction projects.
