Coalition holds trump card in gambling debate

The Coalition looms as the only possible supporter of a deal to clamp down on sports betting ads after the Greens and independents stuck doggedly to their view that the ads must be banned altogether, rather than limited.
Despite new polling showing voters prefer limits to an outright ban, and background briefings given on Monday night by Communications Minister Michelle Rowland, views on all sides remained firmly entrenched.
