‘More pressing priorities’: Chalmers won’t scrap tax cuts in budget

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has explicitly ruled out touching the stage three tax cuts in the October budget, telling reporters in Washington that there are more pressing priorities to deal with.

Dr Chalmers left open the door to rolling back or amending the package in future budgets, following strong criticism from some economists, the Greens and left-wing think tanks based on cost and fairness grounds.
