Chalmers counts costs of a weak economy

Jim Chalmers says the government’s economic strategy is “designed to see Australians through these hard times”. But he knows most Australians no longer see it that way – translating into hard times for the Albanese government as it staggers to the end of the year.

Lower than anticipated GDP growth of only 0.2 per cent for the September quarter is another hurdle in its struggle to maintain its political balance.
