Former South Australian premier Jay Weatherill will lead an urgent review into Victoria’s childcare system and Western Australia launched its own snap review in response to security concerns after a Melbourne childcare worker was charged with dozens of sex offences against babies and toddlers.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan on Thursday announced Weatherill and former senior state public servant Pamela White would lead the “short, sharp” review and report their findings back to government on August 15.
