Australia needs a permanent national emergency recovery agency to deal with the multitude of natural disasters, according to the leaders of the nation's $13 billion fire, drought and flood front-line efforts.
Former Northern Territory leader Shane Stone and former Australian Federal Police boss Andrew Colvin endorsed the idea of an ongoing recovery agency before the royal commission into Natural Disaster Arrangements last week.
