Blow for Lib conservatives as Andrews loses preselection

The career of federal Parliament’s longest-serving member, Kevin Andrews, has come to an abrupt end after he was rolled in a preselection ballot for his safe Melbourne seat of Menzies.
His loss to barrister and armed forces veteran Keith Wolahan by 181 votes to 111 votes in Sunday’s contest was an embarrassment for the party’s conservative faction led by federal minister Michael Sukkar.
