The Albanese government will allow a Tamil refugee family caught up in Australia’s hardline immigration laws to return to central Queensland, after interim Home Affairs Minister Jim Chalmers intervened in the long-running case.
Labor promised to allow Nadesalingam and Priya Murugappan, who fled Sri Lanka’s civil war on people-smuggling vessels to Australia, to return to Biloela while their immigration status is resolved.
