AWU wants compulsory union membership, higher fees for migrants
Employers will be required to train an Australian worker for every skilled migrant they take on, and the migrant will be made a default member of the relevant union to guard against exploitation, under a proposition to be taken to the jobs summit by the Australian Worker’s Union.
AWU national secretary Daniel Walton will secure passage of a resolution calling for the changes at his party’s national conference starting in Sydney on Monday.
