The scrutiny of foreign political donations has pushed both major parties to form organisations aiming to attract younger members of the Chinese Australian community.

In 2018, both Liberal and Labor members founded "Chinese youth councils" to attract Chinese Australians to their parties and to co-ordinate campaign action.
