Albanese urged to lift rent assistance to ease cost of living

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is being urged by developers, housing groups and think tanks to increase the federal rent assistance scheme and reignite home building as part of cost-of-living relief.
Low-income renters are increasingly struggling to afford rent, which reached record highs despite more than 1 million Australians receiving a 15 per cent increase in Commonwealth rent assistance in last year’s budget.
