Albanese says 100 years of history shows Labor won’t win Aston

Anthony Albanese has begun managing expectations before the Aston byelection by confirming Labor will run a candidate but is expected to lose.

In an address to caucus on Tuesday, the prime minister cited the precedent in which no national government had won a seat from an opposition at a byelection since 1920.
