Anthony Albanese will start forging an early bond with Indonesia’s incoming president, as a fresh clash between Chinese and Filipino vessels in the South China Sea foils efforts to tone down regional tensions.
What would normally be a routine visit to Canberra on Tuesday by Indonesian Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto has heightened status given he will succeed President Joko Widodo in October.
