Albanese guts Home Affairs in pointed reshuffle

Anthony Albanese has gutted the Home Affairs department and moved aside the two ministers responsible for the troubled Immigration portfolio, in a modest but pointed reshuffle designed to eliminate weaknesses before the federal election.

As speculated, Clare O’Neil lost the Home Affairs ministry but was shifted to the critical housing portfolio where Labor is vulnerable to the Greens, and in which the existing Minister Julie Collins has been perceived as ineffective.
