Albanese backs wage rises of 5pc-plus to match inflation
Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese says he will back a wage increase of 5.1 per cent to match the headline inflation rate to ensure workers do not go backwards, exposing himself to attacks from the government and business groups on Labor’s economic credentials.
While campaigning in the key seat of Chisholm in south-east Melbourne alongside Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, Mr Albanese continued to face questions about Labor’s promise to increase wages.
