A formal deal on aged care reform has been pushed back by as much as two weeks after the Coalition withheld a final statement of support amid internal anxiety about a voter backlash from self-funded retirees.
After Labor and the Coalition reached in-principle agreement this week on means-tested reforms that will require pensioners and self-funded retirees to contribute more to their aged care costs, a stand-off developed over who would make the next move.
