America represents the world’s greatest sovereign risk for investors and overseas economies, including for Australia, with upheaval from November’s presidential election set to tank the dollar, Joe Hockey has warned.

The former federal treasurer and ambassador to Washington said Donald Trump and Kamala Harris were effectively tied in the race for the White House, describing the campaign as “ground zero in terms of making promises that are unfunded and probably cannot be delivered.”
