100,000 foreign ‘students’ won’t come or will go home under reforms

The number of overseas students coming to Australia to study could be cut by as much as 70,000 under new visa requirements, and an additional 38,000 graduates sent home for not meeting English-language tests.

Internal government sources estimate 30,000 potential students would not pass the new genuine student test, while 41,000 would fail to get past higher English-language requirements. An unknown number would be rejected on both counts.
