Victoria has fallen behind the rest of the country across a range of economic indicators, including for wages, house prices, spending and business conditions as economists warn of a “clear divergence” from other states.

Business figures including CSL chairman Brian McNamee, former NAB chief executive and BHP director Ross McEwan, Melbourne restaurateur Chris Lucas and home building mogul Nigel Satterley are increasingly speaking about their concerns on Victoria and Melbourne’s standing.
