Expelled Victorian Liberal MP Bernie Finn has declared the Liberals he joined “dead” after being kicked out of the party over his controversial comments, including that he was “praying” for abortion to be banned in Australia.

The dramatic expulsion comes amid a battle over the future direction of the Coalition, after federal Liberals in Victoria were almost wiped out by the weekend’s election.
