Ex-Victorian deputy premier appointed Suburban Rail Loop chair
The Victorian Liberals have accused the Andrews Labor government of using public sector boards as a “retirement plan” for ex-ministers after former deputy premier James Merlino was tapped to become chair of the Suburban Rail Loop Authority.
Mr Merlino’s plum appointment comes after former health minister Martin Foley and ex-police and emergency services minister Lisa Neville were named as chairs of Alfred Health and Barwon Health earlier this month.
