Premier Investments chairman Solomon Lew has welcomed the Morrison government's new fortnightly $1500 wage subsidy after standing down 9000 staff due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The stimulus, which Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Monday afternoon, will be in place for the next six months and apply to all small and medium enterprises that have seen turnover drop 30 per cent since March 1.
