Coalition's carbon reduction fund needs to be overhauled, say energy experts
The Morrison government's $2 billion top-up of its Emissions Reduction Fund is an expensive way to reduce Australia's carbon emissions, with most big industry players steering clear of the controversial scheme, energy experts say.
While the renamed Climate Solutions Fund remains the federal government's default climate change policy, experts say it will only work effectively if it is overhauled and the accompanying safeguard mechanism is tightened to force big polluters to change their behaviour.
