Queensland business leaders have warned the state's spiralling debt is not sustainable as they slammed Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk for persisting with draconian border policies as a cynical bid to win the October 31 election.

While senior business leaders said the Palaszczuk Labor government had done a good job of controlling the coronavirus, they said the prolonged border closure with NSW was causing irreparable harm to the state's economy, especially Queensland's multibillion-dollar tourism industry.
