For businesses and governments that have a large number of field workers, be they parks and wildlife officers, sales reps or paramedics, mobile and wireless technologies have emerged as a Holy Grail for delivering workers the information they need when and where they need it most.

Brisbane City Council, one of the nation's largest local governments, is no exception and has hatched plans to roll out hand-held devices to its employees in a bid to keep workers in the field where they belong.
