Queensland will remain closed to greater Sydney and Victoria after Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced she would extend the draconian border measures for at least another month.

The announcement made on the eve of the Queensland election on Saturday was labelled "ridiculous" by Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce, but it is expected to help the Palaszczuk government win a third term in office.
